I’m a big Formula One fan and from the day I started watching Formula One I never liked Micheal Schumacher. Now he’s going to retire after this 2006 season which he announced after the Italian GP.
Just winning races does not make u great. He might be good, and I don’t care. He’s a cheat and dishonest driver to the core. Michael unlike Mika or Senna does not drive for the fun of it. He’s hell bent to win GPs at any cost.
Damon Hill beat him, Jacques Villeneuve beat him,Mikka Hakkinen beat him, Fernando Alonso beat him, loser only ever won titles when he had the best car than the other cars. I want to know if he has ever won a championship very close or had any competition from other teams when he won the World Championships. Schumacher - Ferrari = ZERO
Schumacher Celebrating Imola 1994 Aftermath - Heartless and Disgusting
How can a person celebrate after a person (Senna - Car Crash) dies? Plus Ayrton Senna was arguably the best Formula One driver. In the post race press conference, he says: “I can’t feel happy” and you can clearly see in the video MS was happy, he drank champagne and pumps his fist in the air after he won, when the race was restarted after Senna’s crash. YouTube video about MS celebrating at Imola
Austrian GP 2002 - Shameless Creature
Michael “orders” Barrichello to leave way for him towards the end of the GP. He also gave the winner’s trophy to him. Moreover if I can remember well, David Coulthard was second in the championship title race - not by a slender margin, yet the shameless creature made Barrichello pull in the final lap. Plus he wanted his 7 GP wins in a row intact and before that he has never won at Hungary. Poor Rubens, he was leading from the start of the race.
Monaco GP Qualifying 2006 - A Cheater
During the final lap of qualifying at Monaco, M Schumacher came to a stop (he said his car was stalled) at the La Rascasse hairpin, resulting in a yellow flags, so that the other drivers can drive in full speed. The stewards made his time void and Alonso was declared P1. How can there be an error when one drives a F1 car at 16 Kmph? YouTube video about MS “mistake”
How much more?
Those were only some of the instances. Remember the Adelaide 1994 crash with Hill when MS has hit the wall and his suspension was damaged and by all probability wouldn’t have continued the race and Schumacher crashed into Hill on purpose. That was not all –he won his first championship having a illegal traction and launch control mechanism in his Benetton, European (Jerez) GP 1997 with Jacques Villeneuve and he was stripped of his points, usage of ‘illegal fuels’ Argentian 1998 with David Coulthard , Belgian GP 2000 with Mikka Hakkinen, European GP 2001 with Ralf Schumacher, Canadian GP 2001 where he almost scared the shit out of his brother when he forced him ‘kiss’ the wall , British GP 2003 with Alonso… now MONACO GRAND PRIX 2006 with Alonso…. so much instances to prove he’s a cheat. Still MS fans think all this is an one off incidence.
Michael Schumacher - Lucky Prick
Everything for the past 10 years has fell into Schumacher’s way. Michael Schumacher has only had “ONE” Engine failiure (German GP 2001) in the last 6 years. And we all know Bridgestone’s loyalty towards Ferrari. Their bias towards Ferrari made McLaren switch towards Michelin.
Britain 1998, He was allowed to win a race by taking his stop go on the last lap. When Hakkinen had exhaust failure and his engine blow in the last lap in the Belgian GP (I forgot the year). Kimi Raikonnen’s bad season and not a reliable McLaren in 2004, etc…
I don’t say that michael schumacher is a bad driver. But he’s not a great driver. He’s a cheat for sure. He got a serious attitude problem and is arrogant. I think he is a great racer, great strategist with zero ethics and morals.
It’s really good riddance. Good to see a cheater and an dishonest driver to retire. He should have done that long time back. I hope that Alonso and Renault win the Drivers and Constructors championships respectively this year. He personally made sure that he had all the records in his name and retired.
Inzamam ul Haq recently was out hit wicket. I think he has to reduce weight. He couldn’t balance himself. The ball was not that difficult to play, but still…
Ever wondered why Cricket rules the roost in India?
Here is a fact file on various sports in India and how it fares….
Hockey
Meet a team which can’t even pass properly. Coaches come and go even more than the players. (That is : We see more Coaches than players). You can’t imagine the blame game that’ll go here. The players blame the coach, coaches blame players for not cooperating, the Indian hockey board adds to the confusion…even the referees are not spared.
Indian Hockey + Doordarshan’s Coverage + Hindi commentary = Undisputed show of lousiness on earth.
The tragic comedy here is that this is India’s National Game.
Tennis
We have a teenage sensation called Sania Mirza. She (according to me) has a serious attitude problem. She won’t even move to second round of any major tournament. More on her problems here: Give Sania Mirza a break.
We have two good players (only in doubles) Leander and Mahesh. But they won’t play with each other. And I must admit that it’s singles that’ll interest viewers not doubles. Other players like Harsh Mankad, Rohan Bopanna, Prakash Amritraj are young. But by the time they play well, they’ll become too old.
Formula One
Narain Karthikeyan is India’s sole face in Formula one. I have not seen him drive much. He’s now with Williams second test driver. Yeah he lacks sponsorship and big money but still the bottom line is he is not racing and his future in formula one as a race driver is uncertain. He’s quite old as well.
What about others? We have Karun Chandok and Armaan Ibrahim are promising but I can’t imagine how’ll they get in the money that’s required?
Soccer
I know only two players in the Indian Team. One is Baichung Butia and the other is V T I M Vijayan. Vijayan is retired now. But I know all the players in the England or Brazil squad. That sums up the popularity of soccer in India. I think Soccer is the only game in India where the federation cup or any inter club tournaments are popular and more viewed than the National squad playing elsewhere.
Chess
This is the only sport that India truly shines. Vishy is World’s number 2. He’s not playing not that well in the recent tournaments but still he has a good reputation. There are so many players who are good. I need not list them now. We have the youngest GMs in the world. Chess in India never so good.
But unfortunately Chess can’t have viewers. I have not seen a single tournament shown in the TV (forget live coverage) except in Doordarshan. The players play for a long period of time and you’ll be bored to death if you watch it.
Shooting
Shooting in India was never better. We have a fine bunch of young talented shooting stars. We are starting to perform well in overseas competition. I guess we might win some medals in Olympics as well. But the story ends there. Can you actually watch shooting?
Gymnastics
People in India think Gymnastics is some circus show. (I’m serious and not kidding).
Cricket We Indians love long sagas, don’t we? Right from the two Epics, Mahabharatha and Ramayan to Bollywood’s 3.5 hours movies to Ekta Kapoor’s “K” TV Shows and serials… the rage continues.
We also love 5 day drama on the field called the “Test” matches. So you can imagine why even this Twenty20 format is also not popular.
We play Cricket better than we play other sports. I don’t want to prove that by quoting some freak ICC rankings.
Sania Mirza slips to 3 places to 38th in latest WTA Rankings
For the past 2-3 months her ranking had oscillated just 6-7 places. Sania Mirza moves up 2 places, slips 4 places, retain her position in the latest WTA rankings. Sania Mirza this, Sania Mirza that. Moi got fed up.
I got some suggestions for her!
1. Reduce her weight
I dunno if she’s a foodie, anyhow she needs to have slim figure to perform better on the field. Also I read that her weight is putting in a lot of pressure on her heels and is a cause for concern.
During the injured period, she should been “rehabilitated” and should have reduced her plumb figure.
2. Stop playing doubles or mixed doubles
As far as I can remember, no Player ever played doubles / mixed doubles during his/her peck or while he/she was young and improving in the singles game. Even if she’s playing for money, it does not make any sense. She’s earning through advertisements and endorsements from Deutsch Bank to Sprite to Hyundai Motors to TATA Tea to even government girl children program thing.
It’s going to fatigue her and will cause burnout. I have seen that she had a singles and a doubles match in the same day for more than two occasions. She’s the loser if the doubles is gonna continue. Singles should be her priority and her focus and concentration need not bypass the same to doubles.
This is actually going to help her in the long run as she can have a (pro)longed career and earn a lot (if that’s her intension). I fail to understand why she needs to play doubles when she can improve her game in singles.. or am I missing something her?
3. Anger Management
Scene 1 :- Sania Mirza argues with the match referee over the decisions ruled against her.
Scene 2 :- Irked by a volley of “personal” questions, Sania Mirza walked out of a crowded press conference organised in connection with a function organised by the Malabar Group of companies.
We all know it’s no use in arguing with the field referee (unless it’s a Clay court!). no way they are going to roll back their rulings. The players loose their concentration while attempting a scuffle. I really don’t know if this is a lame thing, but anger will never help ya getting anywhere.
Let her actions speak up for her. No need to use T-shirts or get involved in controversies (Sex speak about AIDS or rather be a public speaker. Great players hardly got in trouble at their peaks) at this point of time when she needs to be focused and concentrate on the game.
She is a great player. She needs some ‘tweaking’ done with her attitude. Hope she recovers from her injuries and play well at the French Open Grand Slam.
And to the news channels: Get a life. Give us (and Sania) a break. Please forget her rankings for now.
Doordarshan (DD) has clinched deal with ESPN - Star Sports and now matches will be shown live on DD.
This is great news for Soccer fans like me who don’t have access to Pay Channels (due to CAS in Chennai). I thought we would miss the action this time around also. We missed out Euro 2004 due to this CAS BS.
There might be two matches going on simultaneously, so we can watch only one match live. DD and Hindi commentary go together, which sucks. But something is better than nothing.
The team for remaining four ODIs for the ongoing TVS cup between India and England is announced.
Robin Uthappa replaces Gautham Gambir. Rest of the squad remains the same.
Please drop Mohammad Kaif and Verender Sehwag
Well, it’s not easy to decode More and Chappell’s “Scheme of things”. Why is the 33 years+ crickets are overlooked? Well, the World Cup is just a year ahead and not 3 years, Mr. More and Chappell. Anil Kumble, Saurav Ganguly and VVS Laxman are not 37 years old grandfathers.
Kaif is the new Hat trick star. Yippee!
If you take the selection on merit and performances, then how the hell does Sehwag and Kaif come in the picture? Man, Three ducks in a row! His scores in the past five innings are 0,0,4,0,0. (Thanks Riyaz for pointing out the error). We have a new Hat trick star. Yippee! Yet why is Kaif not “talked” about? I have always thought that Kaif is not a very good batsmen and with a otherwise good Indian batting lineup (at least on paper), he should be dropped. More, see his average and his average this year sucks. I have hardly seen him score beyond a dozen of runs (leave alone a “good” innings). Coming to his fielding. Agreed that he is a better fielder than Anil Kumble, Saurav Ganguly and VVS Laxman but he fields in odd positions these days like slips, line leg, deep mid wicket and even short leg when a spinner is in operation rather than his cover/extra cover usual positions. I guess you don’t need specialized fielders for boundary positions.
Sehwag: Take some dance classes
Sehwag should understand that legs can be used for foot movement while playing his shots and not only running between the wicket. Man, how much time has he been dismissed by playing a casual shot? Now, in the 2nd Test match against England and the recent ODI innings have something to say. He is not playing aggressively as he used to play. He is “afraid” that he might loose his place in the side, now that people have started to question about his performance. Sehwag should be dropped for a series or two, in the meanwhile he should play for Delhi and regain his confidence back.
Even Dravid wanted Laxman and Anil back in the squad but sadly they don’t fit into Chappell and More’s “scheme of things”. They want to “look ahead” and play youngsters. We should have the veterans back and play them until they can perform and contribute to the team. Anyway Anil, Laxman or Ganguly can bat better than Kaif.
