Welcome again to fortnightly weekend party at The Newspaper Blog where drinks links will be served.

The best toys are free!
What really holds her interest are things we wouldn’t even have noticed. Like the slip of paper with a grocery list. The cap of a bottle that has rolled under the table. A towel. A stray piece of thread. An ant. A drop of water.

A set of Priceless moments captured of a baby playing. Ahh… those cute little hands, eyes and hair! Feeling very happy as I’m switching Tabs (of that article) and writing here.

Chat between two serious IIM aspirants and the elusive CAT/IIMs (Satire)
Student 2 (losing his cool): WTF. I got a f’in 78.17 in DI and finally all you buggers decided I am incompetent to think logically. You decide that since I could not crack one more set in DI, I am not fit for management.
CAT : Beta.. Tension mat le.. See. I will let you out one trade secret. We ourselves are pretty confused in how to eliminate people. Its a nice game with us and the computer. We keep changing one variable or the other till the calls for each instis touches the required number. In fact how to predict the right nos so that we can give results in 3 weeks itself is now a case study at IIMA.

Guaranteed to make smile. Though written humorously, if you think over again this stuff is somewhat true.

Saturday Night Links Fever @ The Newspaper Blog

It has been some time since we’ve had the regular Saturday Night Links dished out.

Welcome to another edition of fortnightly weekend party at The Newspaper Blog where drinks links will be served.

Let’s start off with some thing motivational…

But They Did Not Give Up
Michael Jordan was cut from high school basketball team. Jordan once observed, “I’ve failed over and over again in my life. That is why I succeed.”

NEVER give up, no matter what.

On living and dying
A couple of months ago, when I decided to quit my job to write my book, friends and family asked me if I wasn’t scared about my future. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I was shit-scared. Scared that I would die without even having started on my first book.

A gem of a post. Don’t die with the music with you. Don’t wait to do what you’ve always wanted to do.

About death and nothingness thereafter…
I hope that the dream hasn’t ended and “Milind in the dream” does manage to score with Priyanka Chopra… and they live happily ever after…

Milind, dream on. :) If you thought the above post was ‘heavy’ then this might lighten up, exploring the same theme.

What Motivates People: Beckwith 40
People don’t care how good you are. They care how good you can make them.

What motivates people to buy a product/service over another?

Writers’ Rooms
“I got the typewriter in 1958 from a Chinaman. You can’t get them mended anymore so I have to be very careful with it.”

An interesting article about the rooms, writers live & do work. Look for inspiration to design your room.

Photo essay: The Women of Delhi

No makeups, semi porn actors, revealing custumes, models yet charming ladies you would see. Scintillating post!

Saturday Night Links Fever @ The Newspaper Blog

Welcome to yet another fortnightly weekend party at The Newspaper Blog where drinks links will be served.

Last week we had the Movies Special, it’s back to normal goodness. :)

She Said Thank You
Tomorrow will be different, better,” she mutters aloud. But she doesn’t believe it. Because she says it every night. And nothing changes.

A good story for all you procrastinators. After you read this, I’ve to post: ‘TNB Readers Said Thank You’.

Ten Amazingly Ignorant Customer Quotes
I’m warning you now, if we don’t like the food, we’re sending it back.”
- A miserable, middle-aged woman with an excess of sand in her vagina

WaiterRant is a blog of anonymous waiter who shares his/her stories. Excellent, well written stories.

Day of the dog
Soon, the puppy makes it to the top of the mound and retrieves a slice of pizza. It is still soft and untouched. The puppy starts eating, hoping that the dog will help himself to it. But the dog doesn’t. He just waits for the puppy to finish.

The story made me happy and I’m sure you’ll be happy too. A lot of things said with a story.

15 years of AR Rahman - A MUSICAL AFFAIR
Yeh jo des hai tera (Swades, 2004): Because goosefleshy neo-patriotic songs are hard to come by. Accompanied by a shehnai playing at near-monotone, along with what sounds like exhalations from men who’ve burned their tongues with hasty spoonfuls of hot soup, Rahman belts out this perfect anthem for our dispossessed times.

I’ve never read any article written with such passion! Beautiful post. Tribute to A R Rahman - Indian Music Director. Subscribe if you want read reviews of the Hindi/Tamil/sometimes English movies.

Saturday Night Links Fever - Movies Edition

Saturday Night Links Fever - Movies Edition

The Newspaper blog Fortnightly feature is back with a special edition. Movie Buffs rejoice!

If you thought the Summer Hollywood releases had a great line up, think again. In my opinion, except for Ratatouille & Spiderman 3 it was filled with ‘franchise movies’ (and yeah I didn’t see all the summer releases).

Fall / Winter 2007 Movie Guide

This winter/fall season has a great line up and here’s the roundup…

** The Best is Yet to Come: Fall / Winter 2007 Movie Guide
A neat preview of the movie releasing this winter.

** A Guide to the Fall’s Hottest Movies - Rotten Tomatoes
A detailed analysis of the movie releasing with the trend. A good read.

My Must See Top Five Fall Films:
1. The Bucket List
2. I Am Legend
3. Michael Clayton
4. The Darjeeling Limited
5. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium

What movies are you looking forward?

** Tyler Durden’s Top 5 Tips for Living
Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don’t you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can’t think of a better way to spend these moments?

Seen the movie Fight Club? A great movie with a lot of things you can learn from. The article illustrates Tyler Durden’s sayings and the relevance in the real world.

** How much do you know about movies (from the past 25 years)?

Think you’re a movie buff? Take this quiz and we’ll know how much you brag about. I passed with a 67% score. What about you?

If you’re wondering why I’m not watching movies these days, blame the TV show Friends. I’m half way through the series and I’m going to take a break to catch with movies.

Want to share something interesting? Hook me up with an email.

Hope you liked this post. Have a great weak end. :)
