Warning: Might contain spoilers.
I’ve stand in the queues for Harry Potter books at 3 AM right from the fourth book. I almost had the same kind of enthusiasm for Chetan Bhagat’s third novel: The three mistakes of my Life. Went to the store only to return that it had not yet released.

The book was a complete let down. Even by Chetan’s standards, this one is nowhere near his other two fictions. By the way, I liked One night @ call center more than Five point someone.
Some thoughts on the book
The book started off well. Somewhere in between, got stuck and became monotonous henceforth. Chetan might’ve considered Bollywood with the kind of novel he writes and this one got foreign locales (Australia). Towards the end, I lost interest and hoping when the book would get over.
India historic test series win Australia, 9/11, Bhuj earthquake, Godra communal riots get mentioned. Of course the novel is spread over a period of years, yet all this incidences in novel seems artificial.
Should Chetan mind his language? “Mother pimping businessman”, “sister fucking people”, “never heard a bloke too busy to root”, “known to each other since you were sperm” and the liberal dose of the f-word makes it irritating. Swearing is not a bad thing but too much of it looses it’s sting and irritates you.

It’s that time of the year where schools are declared holiday, flights & trains operate in full capacity, families get together, adults are frustrated and children rejoice.
Having born and brought up in Chennai and lived in Dubai, I find Summer interesting.
Here are some tips for staying sane and having fun this Summer.
1. Have you ever seen animals (in nature TV programs or in zoo)? They cool off by splashing around in water. Bathing is a must - whether you’re in Chennai, Dubai or New York (not sure about Antartica). I take bath 2-3 times a day. Try to hit the swimming pools once/twice a week (ogling chicks is a bonus).

April 28th, 2008 — My Movie recommendations and reviews, Potpourri
I read a lot.
I also happen to dream, irrespective of the time of the day.
While reading fictions, we tend to visualize the events as we read along.
Was reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, I noticed the events were not ‘moving’. That’s not usual. Movies (based on books) are like that. However ‘fast’ be the screenplay, I feel being stagnant. (Pssst: The Curious… is an amazing debut, laughed my ass off like crazy)
Movies spoils our creativity and imagination. Take Harry Potter. The Harry Potter I saw was totally different from what I had built in my mind. I have read each Harry Potter book atleast 5-7 times but I hardly like to watch the movie.
My Hogwarts was magical. Forbidden forest was creepier. Quidditch is the best sport ever (heart it more than F1 or Tennis). I was a Gryffindor student.
The only good in the movies was Emma.

This is what Muggles do when they’re bewitched by spells.
And yes, this period is bumper time for Harry Potter fans. The finale of the book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows and the fifth installment of the movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix hits you within a fortnight.
Even though the OOTP (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) has released last week, in the UAE it’s releasing this Thursday only. The book releases on Saturday. I’m waiting (just managing) but there’s a lot of distractions in various forms which threaten to spoil my Harry Potter things this week.

Made in China.
Perhaps those three words must be the second most uttered phrase after I Love You!
Chinese made goods seems flooding the place all over with their products which gives jitters to people who sell them. Here at The Newspaper blog, truth and boldness counts for me. I’m not afraid to make certain things public.
I was reading Deep’s blog on his Chinese Stand. That made me remember that our company sell ‘things’ that are made in China.

“I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way my boss can’t see me, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour. Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I’m working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I’d say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. ”
- Peter Gibbons from the movie ‘Office Space’
The saga continues!
Here’s one article which might put my job in a spot. Candid confessions coming to light.
