Macs are getting popular these days and everyone wants to own a Mac.
Other than the killer looks and splendid design, what’s so special? It’s the Apps. That’s was one of the main reasons why I use a Mac. You might be a Writer, Blogger, Designer, Student or just want to be productive, there’s a clear advantage over other PCs.
So where to buy a Mac after convincing yourself and your parents/spouse? This is going to be an Indian perspective article, but everyone will be benefitted.
Buy in the US
With the Dollar weakening (and Rupee appreciating), it makes sense to buy in the US. Even without any discounts, it’s a lot cheaper than what price you’ll pay here in India. Take an example of MacBook Pro. You save ~Rs 25k (without any additional discounts). And you can save on Taxes too if you ship to certain states where there’s no tax (like Delaware). More on buying in US, listed below.
Other places like Singapore (~Rs 90k) and Dubai (~Dhs 8.7k/Rs 96k) might be other alternatives where you consider to buy. [Costs Rs 105k in India. Prices mentioned are that of the 15" MacBook Pro.]
Try not to buy in India as it’s overpriced and expensive. If you’ve no other option, then here the list of Apple dealers in India.
Apple has partnership with Reliance and they’ll be opening new Apple called iStore. They’ll open 60 iStores in 20 cities.
I’ve listed some ways where you can get discounts on Apple Products from Apple Store itself.

How fast time flies!
It seemed that I started the blog the other day and now I’ve been blogging for over 2 years now.
Some snapshots…
Over 1.8 Million Pageviews
Looking back at the traffic on a couple of days, it should have put the ‘Digg Effect’ to shame. The blog brought the server down many times and I’m thinking of moving to partial dedicated server soon.
Making money through blogging is seriously hard work. I couldn’t achieve the target of $5k. I know I’m undermonetizing this site so things can only improve. I brought a $2000 (costs Rs 1.05 Lacs in India) laptop, Apple MacBook Pro with my own hard earned money and over 33% of the contribution was with the revenue of this blog.
500 Subscribers
Ask any blogger how difficult to achieve 500 daily RSS readers. That too for a personal blog.
I underestimated the difficulty of subscribers count and had a mental target of 800 by the end of the year. Hoping to end the next year on a healthy rate.
Things are looking bright for the blog and the good run this year should continue next year as well.
Looking back at the post I wrote for the first year anniversary, this one looks short and sweet. That one was a 1200 word (should be 1500 word essay before editing). I don’t have time and I’m on my way to catch the Train for the 10 day vacation (down south Tamil Nadu and Kerala) and visit my parents.
Seasons Greetings.

Playing Video files is an issue for most of the newbies because of missing Codecs.
If you know the know-how of the things, playing multimedia is a child’s play.
Playing Multimedia Video files is a easy task in Mac OS X. I’m going to explain with help of icons only.

I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with BSNL Dataone (my ISP).
Right from the day I started using Dataone, I was irritated and frustrated with the two issues listed below.
You’ll be amazed to hear the issues I had and you wouldn’t have heard of it before.
Now that I’m a Mac user, let’s see if BSNL annoys OS X Tiger as it did Windows XP.

Is it justified to buy an Apple MacBook Pro when you can buy a Laptop of less than one third of the cost or buy a Laptop with same specs for a less than 75% the cost of an Apple?
I did some research, consulted with some Mac users and finally knew why this is the ultimate Laptop MacBook to own. We’ll see why…
I’m not evangelizing a Windows user to switch. Not even trying.
