Having a plump ratio has nice perks. No wait times, ability to invite friends, respect in the community, etc…
This is an extension of the article some months back: Have a Torrent Ratio You Can Be Proud Of.
We’ve seen how you can improve that ratio by getting in early, uploading to more than one tracker, not capping your upload, seeding for a long time, etc.
What more can you do to improve your ratio or maintain a good ratio?
Use a proper Torrent Client
Don’t use Browser plugins or client (Opera browser, BitLet, etc.), ‘Greedy Torrent’, ‘bad client’ (BitComet, BitLord), P2P clients (like ARES, Limewire, etc.) or torrent client mod (uTorrent leech mod) etc. Use any client that you’re comfortable with and which is allowed by the tracker. Check the FAQ page to see which clients are allowed.
Make the best of Free leech and Ratio building periods
Free leech is when data download is not taken into account; can be for a specific torrent or entire tracker. Ratio building is when data downloaded is taken only 75% and uploaded data is taken at 150% (just an example).
People hit and run. It’s a great opportunity to build your ratio. Download the things from that particular tracker till the free leech or ratio building period and go for that power user member class.
Beware of multi gig torrent file
14 GB something with some good 43 peers. Looks rosy but beware. Most of the leechers might be part downloaders only, i.e., they won’t download the full contents.
Needless to say, as said earlier, eat as much as you can digest.
Jump in on popular torrents
Certain TV Shows, recent movies or new OSes/softwares will bound to have a lot of leechers. If you’re desperate to bring up that ratio, then go for the kill even if you aren’t hungry. Look out for popular torrents which generally have more number of snatches. Places to hunt - Top 10, Stats, Browse New Torrents, etc. pages.
Buy upload credits
It does not cost anything for you to download but it does for the site owners. So many of the Torrent Sites will have VIP membership or you have can ‘buy’ upload credits. You pay $20 and get 5 GB in your upload.
However I won’t advise buying upload credits for your poor ratio. What’s stopping you from sharing? Donate money as token for appreciation & support. Last year, I donated $45 to some 3 torrent sites.
Never blame your net connection
Successful people don’t look for excuses. Don’t blame your net connection for your pathetic ratio. Don’t go for the numbers, I’m happy with 1.0 - 1.25 ratio. It’s take some time, after all I’m not an aspiring uploader member class user.
While I agree that a good connection will go a long way but it’s not mandatory to have a good net connection . See my BwT ratio for inspiration: (note: I’ve 256k/64k line)

Download responsibly. Use public trackers if you can’t share.

although multi giga are bad but good if you do partial seed thats always ratio booster .
never blame is also right ,if you don’t try to seed ,then no generous superseeder going to help you .If you impress your hard work ,you might get lucky for free GB upload
I find the best way is to seed a free leech torrent. Cause rest assured there’s always going to be someone leeching on something that’s totally free. And it’s better when it’s a huge torrent.
Nice post btw.
^^
But sadly people hit and run rather than looking an opportunity to seed.
