Do you know that you can use P2P for educational purpose also? There are thousands of resources for Medical, Engineering, Information Technology students. These are things which you otherwise can’t afford or get in the bookstore.
Sometime back I featured Top 10 Private Torrent Trackers, which was well received. So I thought we’ll explore the possibilities in other spheres of interest.
Our Reader, Lisa Frengetti brought this topic in the Private Torrent Tracker article. She was helpful and in fact wrote the contents (with screenshots) which you are going to read. Thanks a lot for the help, Lisa.
One common characteristics of these educational sites are, we have less leechers and hit&runners. Even if the seeders are less for any torrent, the speed is awesome.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the categories and topics of these torrent trackers for your interest.
5. Learnbits
47 categories and about 1000 active torrents - that’s Learnbits now. I feel the moment they opened for registration a couple of months ago, the community started to shrink, as if everyone flew to Bitspyder. Certain categories are even empty like “Past Times” or “Gnomon”. They’ve experienced certain problems with their server lately. Register and see if you find their resources of any use.
4. docs.torrents.ro
It’s a good Romanian tracker (English and Romanian torrents) and there’s a lot to see. What’s sets it apart is the Language section, where I saw some language learning tool-things you can find nowhere else. Lisa says when she tried to search for French stuff in other trackers all she got were some low-down porn movies links! 
3. Elbitz
Elbitz is a constantly growing e-learning community with around 2500 active torrents in 25 categories. My favorite are language and documentaries. You can find all sorts of learning materials here. If you need any you can request for that and their members will upload it for you if they have got it. One Limitation is that the torrent information are short.
2. Bitspyder
Bitspyder is an educational site with about 7000 torrents. People seed for a very long time and the rules are a minimum 0.4 ratio. They have leechers’ day where you download things and it doesn’t affect your ratio. The thing is that it is a good community of seeders, they don’t tolerate hit & runners.
They’ve recently introduced Geek TV, by which you watch shows online.
1. Bitme
Bitme is the grand daddy of all E Learning Torrent Trackers. Possibly the first E Learning resource site and arguably the best in terms of number of torrents and peers. Bitme has College lectures/courses, E-learning videos, E-books and Self Improvement videos. A way to get an education that we couldn’t otherwise afford or won’t find in bookstores. There are always new things uploaded every day in one of the 27 categories. One will always find seeders for any of it’s over 10,000 torrents.
Invites are difficult to get, but well worth to have an account. My friend downloaded some 120+ GB within 2-3 months for his brother who was doing Medicine in UK and these materials costing a fortune was leeched and made good use of.
Going P2P for your college/school needs is a great way to find resources. Let me know what you think about this article or if you have any other ways to catch hold of E Learning resources online.

The Bitme thing is eluding many people. I have an account but not an account, in spite of having a good ratio. I think I must have invited a leecher and they penalized me.

Considering that these sites try to remain as private as possible… I can’t imagine that they’d like to have the publicity of a blog post. Also, to all of you requesting invites here… a couple of these sites have policies about people who request invites in public places. You can assume that the admin at all 5 of those sites have been notified of this post… and anyone who gets an invite because they posted their email here… will most likely be banned within a few days of using it.
You realise that this blog site is jeopardising the existence of these private trackers. If a copyright holder googles “best private tracker”, Ashwin’s Blog is number 1 on the list. I’m not sure if any of the large publishing houses (and the MPAA) will let these sites survive (look at what happened to Supernova, Torrentbits, and Lokitorrent).

@Rome Hall - docs.torrent.ro is open signup, so anyone can signup without an invitation. What’s the point of trading invitation to a site with free sign up??
I don’t have any invitation to give out at the moment but when I do I would certainly consider those who post a ratio snapshot of a private site you already are a member of to show that you maintain good ratios. It doesn’t hurt to run a speedtest.net and snap a screenshot of the results to show that you have good connection speeds, either.
These educational private site invitations are very hard to come by and there aren’t that many of them. So one wrong invite and the person that makes the invitation is boot out as well. That is a lot of risk!

YEP I have account on 1 ,2,3 I had to buy the Bitme account from EBay that’s how hard it was to get one, but now accounts are not allow to be sell. for Bitspyder I was lucky that day I just went there sign up and by miracle it allow me to setup an account, the last one I sign up when they had open places.
