Do you know that etisalat (Telecom Provider here) pays a company called Secure computing Dhs 9.5 million ($2.6 million) to block sites every year?
Almost none of the proxy browsing site works. The sites which claims softwares for proxy browsing are also blocked. Nor does some tricks like changes the URL to IP.
Yet to can take damage control measures.

Orkut, Skype or any other blocked
You need to install a software, which will establish a VPN. You can open ANY sites without any issues.

Flickr
Accessing the blocked Flickr is a child’s play with a nifty Firefox extension developed by Hamed Saber. You just install the extension and you can access Flickr without any issues. You can bypass Flickr ban in China as well with the same plugin.

Typepad Blogs
I’m not sure if these people have blocked purposely or due to some technical issues. Whenever I open any TypePad blogs here, it’s showing ‘Network Error’. One way to get around and read the content is to subscribe to the blog’s RSS feed. Now I’m reading some good blogs like Dilbert Blog, Seth Godin, etc..
Torrent Sites
Most of the popular sites like TorrentSpy, Demonoid, TorrentZ or The Pirate Bay are blocked. Not all the sites are banned, so you can visit my article [List of the Best Torrent Tracker and Subtitles Sites] where I’ve listed a list of torrent tracker sites. Anyway in the case of public tracker, there won’t be much of impact as the speeds, peers will be the almost the same. In fact even though there are many public tracker site, the tracker will be the same. Most the Private Torrent Trackers also not banned.
You can also other P2P softwares like ARES or Usenet to get the things you want. 
Porn
The best way to get porn stuffs is download via P2P. ARES, Tribler or Torrents is a safe bet. Most of the torrent sites do have adult/mature content, so blocked porn sites should not be a problem for you. I feel it’s good that they are blocked. People normally are desperate while accessing the sites and most of the sites are infected with spywares and ads.
The trick that will always work
I think it’s matter of time, these people block the other sites. But there’s one thing that they can never do anything about. Use a screen sharing software like Microsoft Tahiti, CrossLoop or Yuuguu.
Ask someone at home to accept your screen sharing invitation request and browse the web at school using your home computer. This will enable you to access any website or instant messenger like Skype or Yahoo from the school or work computer. You may also try remote control software that comes with Windows XP Pro instead of screen sharing programs to access restricted sites. [Via Digital Inspiration]
One interesting thing I noticed that these people look for quick fixes. The sites mentioned in other popular sites are blocked, not the site that mentioned itself. For example check this TorrentFreak and Digital Inspiration articles. The links were not blocked until some time recently as I’ve myself opened the sites and bloating that to my colleagues. 
Share your tips if you access sites in work place or if your ISP blocks them.

Guys. Best to use is VPN connection. If you know somebody in outside uae then you can use Hamachi. In case you need free solution but with small adware then use HOTspot (http://anchorfree.com/hotspot-shield/) shield or secureix (www.secureix.com). In case you want to use paid service then go for witopia personal vpn.
Ashwin you can include these findings in the blog and update the same.

Hey ashwin, I came here from nirmal’s blog , and I am glad I did. AM currently at dubai, the flickr extention worked amazingly. I need to surf to know how it works as same way it can be used to work for other websites.
I normally use the anonymous browsers. But slowly slowly etisalat is blocking all.
One thing ..screen sharing trick is of no use here as its blocked all over UAE and moreover , u need to get a person outside UAE or in India to get it working…But I doubt it would be of any use …

Screen sharing tool will work. Even if the site is blocked, you can always ask your people elsewhere to d/l and send it over.

sorry to say , flickr extension no longer works. Yesterday it was working ..when I tried to access it from Abudhabi, it worked .. but today when i am back to dubai … its not working …. still shows the Site blocked screen.

By the way, the plugin works in Abu Dhabi also.
I visit my parents in dubai twice a yr, Torrents are always a safe bet. I heard there are few new ISPs in dubai.. atleast those should allow.
If ur in Internet city, or knowledge village or other places like those you get uncensored access.
I feel ETISALAT sucks.. high pricing, so much of censorship, even bollywood wall papers are blocked, fitness sites are blocked, isreali sites are blocked, 3-4yrs back Hindu sites were blocked.. HA.. eventext books are censored in UAE..

Yes, etisalat sucks. These ppl are lazy. They banned Flickr after some time the decision was taken. Regarding the torrent sites also, they’re slowly trying to ban all of them. It get started with the popular ones and then goes on..
I didn’t know that Internet city,or knowledge village we get uncensored access. How come?

It’s creating a Virtual Private Network (VPN). When ever you are requesting any packets (typing and requesting for any site), it goes via that IP which you’re assigned and not from your ISP’s IP, so we’re tricking as if the packets are not from etisalat (or your ISP).

hahaha, u guys dont know.. i have a program, which is so simple, and no need to install anything, just open it, and it will change the proxy number, then here we go, u can access whatever u want, and the speed is same as ur connection speed.. and i’m not_gonna_tell_the program name

Well Well , Out here iN DXB the censorship by ETISALAT is a big nuisance . Remember When You wanted to access a site and it said “BLOCKED”. Gets Pissing off at times but well here I am gonna describe some FULL PROOF methods to by pass the blocks
Before I start I would like quote a statement My good friend said once

Google Cache , Supposedly you found this new page on google and cant view it because its blocked , go down right corner you see something called cached. the site will open with certain features disabled.Very Useful with readable content and links !
