Pirates of the Caribbean sunk at World’s End

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End - Review

Pirates of the Caribbean 3 disappointed me and it was a complete let down. I looked for this movie more than any other summer releases. Pirates of the Caribbean sunk at World’s End.

Don’t get fooled by IMDb’s 8.6/10. It’s just 50% at Rotten Tomatoes.

In Depp Trouble?

Johnny Depp is wasted. The movie didn’t have the aura and the charm of Jack Sparrow that we all loved in the first and the second installment. It was not fun with those hallucinations.

Chow Yun-Fat’s character added nothing except those ninja crew. It was disappointing to the best man on sword fighting (with all those sword poses by our lead characters) die by a piece of wood. Tia Dalma character was ridiculous. When you see the movie, you’ll understand what I mean.

The beginning of the movie didn’t have significance - or at least that’s what I think. The climax is shocking. It took me a while to understand what was happening. It’s supposed to be bittersweet but all it gave me is a empty feeling.

I slept when Pirates were fighting at World’s End!

Maybe I slept because it was the 12:15 Am show in the morning. I’ve never slept in movie (even if it’s the late night or midnight show) if it’s engrossing and good movie.
Keira Knightley - To hell with curves

I didn’t have any clue what was happening. Not what you want in a film that relies on characters sitting around explaining the plot to one another so the audience can follow what’s happening. So many sub plots and as well as holes. The movie seemed to made to finish in haste, yet it’s over 165 minutes long.

And yeah, there might be a fourth installment as well, I feel they didn’t complete the whole thing.

All the whole, the movie let me down. The last, longest, and most tedious of the trilogy is not a movie, but a attempt to keep the franchise business going. Anyway they have done a good job by making a trilogy from a ride in an amusement park. Part 1 and 2 was good and the third one sucks, many movies have met with the same fate and this just reinforces the fact that star cast or successful movie in the start wont make it good.

I’ll watch the movie again, maybe I might like the movie.

2/10

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End @ IMBd

P.S: I should develop the habit of sitting through the movie. There was a scene after the credits rolled out. Maybe the significance of putting an important scene is to make the people watch the movie again.

P.S 2: Keira, you are great as you are. Don’t quit acting. Let people keep saying about the curves. We want you to grace the silver screen again and again.

To hell with curves.

I’m puzzled by the fact that the three most difficult movies for me to understand (ever) are the ones that make up the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. I wouldn’t think three movies intended for the selct demographic of men and women from ages nine to ninety-three would be beyond my intellectual grasp, but there it is.

All the best for your site. Good luck. :)

I felt the first 2 movies in this trilogy was OK. Only this one was struck in too many characters, plot and plot holes.

Madhur -
Hmm… you can watch it in DVD.

Hmm is it really that boring? I have heard that this was not trilogy. If thts the case then lets hope for a better fourth part..

#11 Ashwin on 06.02.07 at 8:21 am

^^
Yeah, as I’ve mentioned, there might be a fourth part. In fact the movie is not fully complete as such.

Yeah..regarding the boring thing, yes it was. :)

But many people didn’t like the second movies itself. The thing is I had a lot of expectation and was totally let down. The same reviews are coming for Oceans 13 as well. Let’s see how good it turns out to be.

Oceans 13 is good i liked it better than 12.Oceans 12 wasnt as good as 11 i think 13 is better than 11.Al is also in it and i just liked it.

I also saw Oceans 13, but I didn’t like it. Dunno what’s up with me these days. Shrek 3 seems to be nice, but I didn’t watch that one this summer. Waiting for Harry Potter and maybe Ratatouille if it’s good.

Ashwin, you bought in disappointment to me :) I was expecting good work with Johnny Deep. You saved in my ticket money :-) Thank!

BTW, I have a quick question on your adsense? How do you still display the image against your ads?

#17 Ashwin on 06.16.07 at 8:37 am

^^
No problem Herold. But some people still liked this movie. You might want to see it, maybe in the DVD.

Regarding AdSense, you could have disabled Adblock and seen that. :P Anyway, I do run with Images on for the past 6 months or so.

#18 Benedict Herold on 06.16.07 at 4:16 pm

Yep, I had the same thought!

Regarding Adsense, It still leads me to lot of questions. Haven’t placing images near to ads considered violation of Adsense TOS? I’m getting you a reference link to Google blog here. be cautious buddy.!

#19 Ashwin on 06.16.07 at 5:11 pm

Hmmm… I still feel that we really don’t violate the TOS with the kind of image ads I have. Maybe I’m too close towards the other territory.

#20 Benedict Herold on 06.16.07 at 6:04 pm

Oh, is it? May be I’m getting something wrong!

#21 Ashwin on 06.16.07 at 6:35 pm

Placing Images next to ads is NOT a violation of their TOS, but certain placement of images is. Yeah.. I’m taking a risk. But I’m just experimenting, sometimes I do take the images and see how AdSense performs.

#22 Benedict Herold on 06.16.07 at 6:39 pm

Oh, ok! GL with your experiments!!

#23 Ashwin on 06.16.07 at 7:19 pm

Thanks a lot for visiting and commenting. I think this is the first time you’re doing so here. :)

#24 Benedict Herold on 06.16.07 at 7:32 pm

Yepiii… Will come back again to checkout other movie reviews as well :-)

The first Pirates of the Caribbean was great in every way, the best part of the other two was the special effects… the question now is, if they come out with a fourth, will it maintain the quality of the first?
