Let’s face it. We all time pass at work. But not all are bold enough to discuss it in public like I’m doing now.

Do you know that people work for not more than 25% of their office hours? What they do in the remaining time is any body’s guess.

This is the first part of the series “Time Pass at work”. In a span of 10 days there’ll be 3 (or maybe 4 depending on readers response and contribution)

When do you Time Pass?

You time pass at work is when -

1. You have no work to do
2. You don’t want to work
3. You work for the time being waiting for bigger things you want to do in future (like doing higher education, a better job or just be an entrepreneur)
4. You work but this is not the way you want to continue or want this work as your career

In whichever category you fit in, you can time pass at work.

Why is productive time pass important

Time passing is more than simply sitting idle in office. You have fun, learn new things, be efficient and productive and why even keep your body in good shape.

I’ll list some reasons why you should be productive and time pass at work:

You’re Happy
Is there any other reason than this which can motivate you to do productive time pass? Happiness in life is everything for me. I want to be happy in my life. That’s my supreme goal.

You’re doing something worthwhile. You know you’re spending your time in a productive way. You doing something, maybe sacrificing something for better things in future. You’re not guilty of wasting time. We’ll generally feel happy if we believe this or that one of our conditions could be met. Read it again and think about it, it makes a lot of sense.

You *might* like your job even if you don’t
You might not like something in your job, whatever be the reason. You do things other than work, which might give justice to your time and why you might like your work place, if not your job.

You’re Productive and efficient
You might not be working, but you’re busy always. You learn time management (from handling all the chores of time pass at work) and start to be effective and efficient.

You don’t have ‘Monday Blues’
In my 7 months in this job, never ever I had this ‘Monday Blues’ as I know I have a lot of things to do at work place other than work. I actually look forward going to work and sometimes go early to work.

You don’t really waste time
You might not be doing the work for which you’re paid but you do something worth talking about.

You don’t get bored
All my time in Dubai, I’ve never get bored; be it in work place or otherwise. Even though I live away from my family, not a single moment I’ve been lonely or bored. That too this is the first time in my life that I’m away from them. That’s because I’ve something or the other to do.

It’s good for your employer as well
What is more important than having a happy, productive & efficient and satisfied employee?

Do you Time Pass at Work?

Work becomes good and you’ll love it in no time. You like do what you like/want to do. Because for time passing you don’t do thing which you dislike. Some wise man said, you’re happy and maybe efficient & productive even if you do things which make you happy for at least 20% of your time.

You *might* like your job even if you don’t
You might not something in your job,

hi
was there a typo in the second line.?

Liking what you do is HAPPINESS
Doing what you like is FREEDOM.

if we can choose only one…

Very true mereeja. Having happiness with free will (freedom) is what we all seek. We can be happy and have freedom also if we want to. But having freedom is a lot tougher than being happy. I feel it takes a lot of guts to do what you like for most of the times. It might sound simple, but in reality it’s not.

By the way, thanks for pointing out the typos. Corrected them. There was 2 in fact.
