The Newspaper Blog is ranked 200,829 at Alexa Web Traffic rank.
Technorati is tracking over 70 Million blogs (with 120k adding in every day!) and around 750k blogs have talked about India in the past 24 hours (at the time of writing). With so much of jostle, it’s little nice to stick out among the crowd.
Sudhanshu Raheja at Gyaan Sutra has made a list of The complete A-list of the Indian Blogosphere.
I’m surprised and happy to note that if he would have added The Newspaper Blog in the list, I would have ranked 21st! Of course, the Alexa Rank of many blogs would have changed and he’s left out some blogs.
That list is based on Alexa Rank (which by the way is not accurate). Alexa rank can improved using this simple techniques like this and this. In my opinion, breaking into Alexa top 85k is not a big deal.
I’m surprised to note that blogs that I admire like Desipundit, India Uncut, Youth Curry, Great Bong are ranked behind The Newspaper Blog’s Alexa rank! Blogs that I admire like Desipundit, India Uncut, Youth Curry are ranked behind The Newspaper Blog’s Alexa rank!
Does Blog Rank matter?
Honestly, it doesn’t matter for me.
My Technorati rank is very embarrassing which is outside the 100k mark. Yes, I want to improve it. That’s why I have a sidebar widget asking you to add The Newspaper Blog to your Technorati favorite. Yes, I want to make money from this blog. Yes, I want to be in Alexa’s top 100k. But there are things that are more important for me than these things.
My Blog visitors, RSS readers, creating a brand, providing value with every single post, guests satisfaction is more important than the things I listed above.
When my Text Link Ads(aff) showed problems in single posts, I removed it without ant second thought. I removed the second blog of AdSense block before posts, when some readers (inc. ProBlogger) complained. I reply to each and every email that I receive (unless it’s one that asks for Torrent Tracker Invites), thats because I’m not in position to invite others as I myself won’t have invites. When my blog went down, I was more worried about the visitors than the revenue that I’m losing. I can go on like this..
I want to built an influential blog rather than an authoritative blog. Building a community is more important for me rather than traffic and an A-List mention. I want to built an influential blog rather than an authoritative blog.
Get over there, you can stumble across some really good Blogs.
I’m closing this post on an uplifting thought that The Newspaper Blog might be an A-List Indian Blog..at least based on Alexa rank.
[Update] - 07/04/’07
Gyaan Sutra has added this blog to the list!
There’s one more list based on the Technorati rank. My Technorati rank sucks and that’s reflected in the ranking where I’m ranked 65th. Got to do some serious work. Check the A-List based on Technorati Rank : Ploterati.

I hadn’t read your blog before so I couldn’t add your blog to the list, but have done so now.
I have created another list which ranks Indian blogs according to their technorati rank. You can access it at http://sudhanshuraheja.com/ploterati .
Your blog is currently ranked 65th.
I am very young in the blogosphere. Hope my blog reaches that list one day.
Technorati ranking is the worst to me, all because that my technorati ping doesn’t work
Sudhanshu -
Thanks a lot!
I don’t want to see my Technorati rank. It’s was too embarrassing for me. The worst part is I was ranked somewhere around 69k before this out-of-100k rank.
Will have to some serious work.

I can’t understand why you need Technorati ping (unless you want to manually ping Technorati). Technorati rank is purely based on the backlinks that they are able to track.
Anyway, all the best. Never give up. One day you will find your blog there!
I dunno why, my blog has over 179 links and the rank should be up. But still it says “No blog links here yet”. look here: http://www.technorati.com/sear.....ogspot.com
Can you help? Please.
Thanks for your wishes, buddy
Shankar -
Technorati see how much websites have linked your blog or how many people have added your blog in as their favorite (by the way you can also add my blog as your Technorati favorite :D). The rankings are not based upon the number of links your blog has.
Did you get my point?
By the way, you’re from which place?
Thanks for the info, buddy, got that. I’m from Tamil Nadu
How’s my blog?
^^
Me too from TN. From Chennai.
Honestly didn’t look around much, but looks promising.
I see…Thanks
Ashwin,
you might want to remove the images next to the Google Adsense ad blocks. Now, they aren’t permitted according to Google’s TOS. They might cancel your account.
Patrix -
I know that. I’m using that that for a very long time now. Let’s see how things shape up…
BTW, where do you live in Chennai? Interested in having a conversation with you
…online conversation… i meant
I’m from Chennai. Right now working in Dubai. You can IM with me. I’m available at ‘drgrudge1984′.

858520 means you got to do a lot of work.

That doesn’t matter. Add my profile ID in YIM. That’s all you need to do.
Shanker,
While ranking, Technorati counts only those blogs which have linked to you in the last three months. This is done to keep a more up to date rankings. This is also the reason why new blogs manage to break into the top 100 list.
All your links are quite old, hence Technorati does not count them.
Hope that helps.
Sudhanshu
Ahmm, that last post makes me feel a little stupid because when I refreshed the Technorati page, it started showing me that a lot of blogs had linked in the last three months.
But when I tried looking at it earlier, it said that the last one was 179 days old.
Maybe you should drop them an I love you mail. It usually works.
I think it might be based on the flow of the links, if he gets links from websites on regular basis then his blog is gonna be on top always but if he gets links rarely then I do not see any chances of the blog being on top. (Unless the links he has are in HUGE number)
cheers
Deep
Yes Deep. So this makes Technorati rank more significant than Alexa rank.
