After being stuck with a capped BSNL Dataone connection for a very long, it was a relief when I saw that I have been migrated to the new UL Home 900 plan of BSNL.
BSNL Dataone announces Unlimited Plans
So it took almost 15 months for BSNL to come out with it’s new unlimited plans. For rs. 900 a month (plus modem rent if any and 12.24% tax) we are getting a 256kbps unlimited connection. It’s the best possible deal that we have at this point of time. We’ll now have to wait for another year to see any other new plans or changes in the current ones.

That’s a good news… I got an airtel ulimited plan of 128k right now… I previously had Tata Indicom 64k connection… What are you going to download buddy… may be movies I guess

Speeds are the same as usual.. from 28kBps to 31-32kBps.

Funny how the local papers are’t publicizing the news as much as expected. And it’s stupid that they don’t change their other schemes. 500 Scheme should be made 350 permonth.

Called the BSNL Ryp CC office today, the plan is not available here at present. asa its available, I’ll put up an application for migration.

Good for many. Bad for me. It’s too late. I’m leaving dataone this month. so no unlimited for me.
For BSNL’s DataOne Broadband Unlimted Plan users, the voice calls will be charged Rs 1.00/- per unit. It is nothing to do with data transfer. Internet usage is 100% free. Only voice calls are charged.

Why man?? I think one year is too less… Hopefully everybody will introduce this unltd scheme and some idiots will realize that they can’t have a 1Gb for 500 and Unltd for 900.
Actually If DMK wins in TN, I’m gonna personally mail or email Dayanidhi Maran and tell him, we don’t need no color TV, 1GB for 350 will do. Or My whole family voted for you or sommit like that.
Hmm.. What did Maran do all this time? He was the minister.. So I don’t think MK coming back to power wont change anything.
** Remember what happened at the time of Euro 2004 soccer championship here at Chennai, a hell lot of ppl went to Maran (forget the email,phone call,etc..) still with this CAS in place, we were not able to watch it.
** Even all these times, many ppl mailed Maran, still nothing happened till this moment that too after 16 months.
So basically Maran can’t do anything (but to blackmail ppl who come in his way or interfere in his family business). Don’t expect much.
Did you hear that Home 500 plan users will have 100hrs of free download/browse/use time instead of the 6 hrs/day and 1gb a month.

And It’a shame that lok paritran got no publicity, but then again they really had not much of a chance if you ask me. Results will be out in 4 hours anyways. Though they are a bit too stupid to have a hindi name in TN and they don’t reach out to the common man just the intelligentsia.

Hi Imran… long time no see and VLC player has been updated 2 times.
Process time: It’s gonna be fast. After filling the appln, it’ll take around 10 days only.
Modem charges : rs. 100 per month. So if you r gonna stick with this for a long time, then buy the modem. Take my eg, I have been paying 100 for more than 16 months and still the modem is not mine. See the tariff page at their site to know the modem costs.

Modem’s 2000 bucks, bought it recently
coz in Home 500 it was free, now in 900 its not.
When was it free? We need to buy or rent out the modem. It ranges from 1k to 2.5k depending on the model.
That’s interesting. I never heard of the modem being free at all. Was there any scheme?
I got BSNL when the inst of 250 was free. Ofcourse we did end up paying 50 bucks to the guy who did it as bribe.. He looked so pathetic that we couldn’t bear it really… His hints were like.. ROFL… ANybody else like this?
We used to pay 50-75 rs extra every month as the 1 gb was never really enough. Even my sibling uses some times, so for us, the UL plan is effectively only around 300 bucks costly.
By the way, you on a Home 500 or 250?
Umm ashwinr, I was paying 500+180(Plan)+taxes for the last 2 months… no modem charge at all… There was some offer like that when i joined I guess, but it said no modem rental for 2 months alone… dunno, I think from UL 900 onwards they may charge me…

Even we had the same plan for rs. 180, it’s called the ppl plan. Niw it’s no longer there after BSNL reduced the rental charges.

I think you should have gone with Airtel as it’s the same as this UL 900 and moreover you get 512kbps at nights and 1:1 up:down ratio.

I wanted airtel for double BW too, but dad said bsnl since it was already present… so no troubles, and am satisfied for now
Haha, just found that during 2-8 no usage is counted in UL 900 too and user is shown as offline… crazy !

hi guys, i’m from cochin . Right now am using a tataindicom 25 hours time limited connection (512 kbps) . Am planning to move on to some unlimited plans.. have anybody used airtel broaband yet?
airtel 256 kbps - unlimited usage - 999rs
bsnl 256 kbps - UL900 - 900 + 100 (modem rental) = 1000rs
which one shud i choose? airtel or bsnl?? any suggestions?

With Dataone you get only 7-8kBps upload unlike Airtel where you get 30kBps. Moreover you can opt for double bandwidth at night (for rs 50/month).
And regarding Airtel, when they charge 100 for modem incase you hire from them.
