Krrish Music Review

Rakesh Roshan - Rajesh Roshan - Hrithik Roshan team gears for the third occasion and they have done a Hat Trick! I liked the OST of both Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai and Koi…Mil Gaya. So I was looking for it. Nasir Faraaz writes three songs while Ibraheem Ashq and Vijay Akela pens one each.

So.. then I downloaded the songs and listened to atleast 5-6 times before I write something here.

Play List

Pyaar Ki Ek Kahani - Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal
Koi Tumsa Nahin - Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal
Chori Chori Chupke Chupke - Udit Narayan and Shreya Ghoshal
Dil Na Diya - Kunal Ganjawala
Main Hoon Wo Aasmaan - Rafaqat Ali Khan and Alka Yagnik
Big Bang Mix - Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal
Mystic Love Mix - Rafaqat Ali Khan and Alka Yagnik

It’s Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal show all the way in this album. They have sung a total of 3 and 4 songs respectively including that of a remixes.

Three of the songs are melodious and romantic-duet numbers. The pick of the songs is Dil Na Diya. I liked it when I heart it for the very first time. Koi Tumsa Nahin and Main Hoon Wo Aasmaan are remixed as well as Big Bang Mix and Mystic Love Mix repectively and they are good to hear as well.

By and large, it’s a cool album. I dunno whether all will like it, but I like these type of music genres. It’s a better album than Fannaa and only next to Rang De Basanti this year.

Some Art Collections

As far as the movie goes, I liked the trio’s (Rakesh - Rajesh - Hrithik) earlier movies and looking forward to this flick as well. Hrithik returns after a 26-27 month break and he looks cool in this flick. The promos, wallie tell that it’s gonna be a sleek cool style movie like that of Matrix trilogies. Priyanka Chopra is stunning as usual.

Now, that we have listened and enjoyed the songs, it’s time that we wait for the movie. I might see the movie in the Cinemas in case there are good reviews for it. In any case, moi will download the DVD rip of the movie. Can’t wait for the movie to hit the Cinemas…

Sequels or Se’kill’s?

I was shocked to see the advertisement of Titanic 2 in today’s The Hindu newspaper. There were some rumors that Leonardo DiCaprio and James Cameron will join hands to make a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Titanic. But this movie is not from the same team that made Titanic. Titanic is the best movie that I have seen till date. We’ll have wait till May 12th to know how bad it’s going to be.

From Basic Instinct 2 to Matrix to Ice Age 2, no film is sparred. A sequel can be good only if the plot continues with the previous movie. Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions were not good as Matrix was a complete movie by itself. If they don’t have good screenplay, they churn out movies like Aliens Vs Predator!

Some Exceptions:

There are very few movie sequels which are as good or even better than their original make. Let me list some movies that I liked in this regard..

  • Godfather 2 (De Niro rulezzz and better than the original)
  • Terminator 2 ( better than the original)
  • Indiana Jones trilogies
  • Back to Future trilogies
  • Toy Story 2 ( better than the original)
  • Lord of the Rings trilogies
  • Shrek 2 ( better than the original)
  • Harry Potter movies
  • Spiderman 2 ( better than the original)
  • Meet the Fockers (Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman showdown)

… as you can see the list is so small that you can count them.

But in the end, making sequels are not justified. I don’t know they want to spoil the sheen of the original movie. I won’t see Titanic 2 even if it’s going to be a ‘watchable’ movie. For me Titanic will be a timeless classic which I’ll cherish whenever I watch it.

An innovative intro

I heard this piece of thing in Radio. Hope you guys like it as I did.

Once a Hero (of a movie) wanders by the streets of New York. He gets to see a packet of snacks (which was sealed and new). He is tempted to go for it..but he heart say no to it. How can he go against his moral values? After he is the hero. So he decided to find the ‘owner’ of the packet. A young lady was on the spot and our hero asked if this was hers.

Hero : Is this packet yours?
Young lady: No.. but are you the hero?
Hero : Yes! How come you know that?
Young lady: I am the heroine of this movie! Did the director dint tell you?

OMG! What an intro!

The Value of Six Hours

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a pre-mature baby.
To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of ONE DAY, ask a daily wage laborer with kids to feed.
To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.
To realize the value of ONE MILLI-SECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.
To realize the value of SIX HOURS, ask the person who has BSNL Dataone Internet connection.

I am forced to be the watchman of our house. I guard our house till 2AM. I have sleep disorders. I am insulted in some sites. I am mentally stressed out. All this because of this SIX HOURS. The (un)happy hours of the BSNL Dataone.

I am the true night watchman of India. I hardly sleep for 6 hours (Pre-Dataone I used to sleep like a log for more than 8-9 hours). Even hens and roosters wake up later than me in case I decide to sleep and wake ‘early’ in the morning. Sleep sacrificed. It’s a sin to sacrifice that. That’s the value of SIX HOURS.

As it is, we have only 6 hours. How much at the max can we download with P2P running? Not more than 575-580 mb. I know 6 hours doesn’t mean 360 minutes. We’ll use around 340-350 minutes only. That’s the value of SIX HOURS.

Note that 99% of the movies come in 700mb or 1400mb. If we can leech 575mb in a day (assuming that you are a night watchman) then how can download a single CD in a day? What happenes if the seeders and leechers abandon the torrent? I myself have wasted many files unable to complete because of this 6 hours. That’s the value of SIX HOURS.

A Freak Incident

What made me rant here and curse BSNL? Yesterday I decided to sleep and wake up early in the morning (*yawn* even hens wakes up later than me) to leech Being Cyrus and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.

My PC did’nt load! Man.. I’ll have a hell lot of torrents in queue and this damn PC not loading? Later in the morning my brain started working and changed the date that the CMOS battery shows. Actually the date/time won’t work in my PC as my CMOS is dead for more than 3 years! Then the 6 hours passes away without a single kb transfered! Waste of time! Waste of 6 hours! I was not be able to watch those movies that damn day. That’s the value of SIX HOURS.

It’s going to be a lousy day tomorrow

Everyday is almost lousy day for me. What’s special about that dude? Tomorrow is my Birthday. Exactly 22 years ago on the 19th of April,1984 a soul was born and who’s blog you are reading.

We have a family ‘ritual’ tomorrow, not that it’s my birthday but because of my grandmother’s death anniversary. So relative will be in our place. No ‘party’ or hang-outs or get together with friends. Dunno what I’ll be doing the whole day. Maybe I’ll watch the India - Pakistan DLF Cup, catch up some movies (probably Being Cyrus) and sleep.

It’s Raining in Chennai now!

It’s April 3rd week and even in our dreams we can’t expect the temperature to drop 31-32 degrees. But it’s raining now in Chennai! The climate is pleasant and pleasing.

Hope it keeps raining…

Two Thumbs up for Crash

Crash - Review

Crash

The expectations were sky high. I am going to watch the movie that won the Best picture and totally three Oscars for the year 2005. After watching the movie, it exceeded my expectations!

It’s shows the life of 9 persons for 2 days in LA whose relationships to each other are only revealed in the end. I kinda like these type of movies. I liked Magnolia and Love Actually which is also of the same kind but all these three movies are totally different genres.

The cast is very good. Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, Thandie Newton and others. Matt Dillon was the best of the lot. I really enjoyed his character.

Crash deals with the racial issue between the whites and blacks and the consequences. It starts and ends with a car crash It’s shows the life of 9 persons for 2 days in LA. Action shifts between the various characters, whose lives collide with each other in unpredictable ways as each faces their own moral dilemma, and tries to cope with the consequences of their resulting decision made or action taken. Their relationships to each other are only revealed in the end.

A Roller coaster of Emotions

We really can’t tell what type of movie is Crash. It’s ends on a happy note for some, sad for some and some characters redeemed their lives. We are the true judge of the movie. Some might see it as a “feel good movie”, some might be emotional and “cry”, for some it makes them think. That’s the beauty of this movie.

The movie ends on a good note for some of the characters and their lives are redeemed. For some it didn’t. Brendan Fraser’s character sure didn’t. Don Cheadle’s character sure didn’t. Ryan Phillipe’s character sure didn’t. Sandra Bullock’s character knows that her husband is cheating on her with a black woman (which probably fuels the rage). Matt Dillon’s character is offered redemption, but you don’t know if he’s going to take it. Larenz Tate doesn’t change.

The ending so beautiful and refreshing, instead of the the usual stereotype clinche endings that we are used to. I felt happy watching it. Imagine a snow fall in LA! It’s a roller-coaster ride for both the audience and the characters. They are made to go through happy, cheerful, pensive, sad, depressing moments through out the movie. It shows the good and the bad in every characters. For every ying, there is a equal and a opposite yang.

Greatest moments of Crash

Some characters go through a sea of change in their attitude. The movie is all about that. Their lives are redeemed. For me, it’s just because these moments, I liked it very much. There are atleast 3-4 scenes which I can quote, but I am gonna list two of the best scenes here. Each of which tells a story by itself.

My favourite moment in Crash was when a little girl jumped to save her Dad. As soon as she runs out of the door, you think she’s going to get shot and despite knowing that was going to happen, I was still shocked when she got “shot” and even more shocked when you realise she’s alive! Crash deserved Oscar just for this scene.

Matt Dillon. What a actor he is! The scene where he saves Thandie Newton is really touching. Previously he molests here in the middle of the road. Later he saves her against all odds. Both are happy for each other. You can see their reactions being used as the poster for the movie. His characters really described the tone of the movie. There is both good and bad material in the movie.

Brokeback Mountain Vs Crash

To be frank, it’s not right to compare both the movies. Both in in the different genres and league if their own. As both the movies were nominated for the Oscars, we are forced to draw comparisons.

Crash is not a “Oscar Material” unlike Brokeback Mountain. Films like Capote and Brokeback Mountain were made for Oscars. Brokeback Mountain was a powerful movie, Crash was just a normal movie. Both had good well written scripts and crisp direction. The “mature” audience will like Brokeback Mountain more than the young audience who might like Crash and vive-versa.

I’ll give 10/10 for both Crash and Brokeback Mountain, but in the end I think Crash deserved the Oscar. I liked Crash more than Brokeback Mountain just because I felt “happy and pleased” after watching Crash. It was feel good movie in my opinion. Moreover we can relate to some of the characters of Crash.

I am gonna watch Memoirs of a Geisha and see how good it is when compared to Crash and Brokeback Mountain.

Final Word

The bottom line is that Crash won’t be as “touching” as BrokeBack Mountain but you are happy after watching the movie. This whole movie is about the good and bad in everyone, in different situations. I have never seen such type of a movie and it was emotionally charged throughout the 113 minutes.

The original soundtrack is cool and come in the movie very well. The cinematography was very good. For example, the scene where Matt Dillon saves Thandie Newton from the car accident spot, the tone and camera work was exceptional.

Guys you’ll enjoy the movie which actually does not portrays a easy subject. The ending so beautiful and refreshing, you are happy for the characters. It won’t be a “nice” movie for everyone, some will “cry”,etc… I felt happy watching it. Don’t bother with the kind of movie it was. It’s a must watch. Probably you might not have seen such kind of movie.
