25 Movies That Make Me Want To Fall In Love Again

Come February 14th, Valentine’s Day is celebrated with much enthusiasm. Many take their friends and got to different places, exchange cards, see movies all to express their love for their partners.

Romance movies and related genre movies my kinda movies and most of my all time favourite movies are in this genre
Close to the heels of the Top Christmas movies and Top Prison Break/Escape movies comes this post on the eve of the valentines day. Who would not like to watch a good romance movie with his Girlfriend or Boyfriend?

I have listed movies which are ideal and suitable for viewing in this season.. The movies have same theme but each movie is different from the others. From Fantasy (City of Angels) to Drama (Elizabethtown) Romantic-Comedy (You’ve Got Mail) to Comedy (La Vita è Bella) to War (The English Patient) to Animation (Antz) to even Sci-Fi (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind)!

25. Serendipity

Another one of the movie which I really dint like much, but a great flick with your GF/BF. I really can’t understand why anyone will want to try your luck on fate with that special person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with?

Jonathan (John Cusack) and Sara (Kate Beckinsale) meet at Bloomingdales when they want to buy the same pair of gloves. The attraction is instant and it’s love at first sight for Jonathan. They spend that night together. Jonathan wants to see her again but Sara insists it is fate that they should be together and they will find each other again. They separate and almost never find each other. After some point of point, it was boring and I got impatient if they will ever meet!

John is likeable, he is great actor to play romantic roles. Kate Beckinsale is a stunningly gorgeous woman with great hair. Both John and Kate give good performance, the movie might be entertaining if you watch this flick with your soul mate.

Most Romantic Moment:The Ending at the New York Ice skating arena where Jonathan and Sara meet. It was snowing at the time and they were lying on the ground.

24. The Princess Bride

This movie is a fairy tale Adventure - Romance saga. I don’t think big macho boys will like this movie. But it’s a perfect romantic movie to watch with your partner.

A grandfather reads a bedtime like fable to his grandson. When lovely Buttercup is kidnapped by a gang; Dread Pirate Roberts, Westley comes to save her. He eventually dies but death is no barrier to true love and in the end it’s ok!
It got all the ingredients of a adventure movie, quicksand, 6 foot tall gaint, beasts. Rodents, chasing, escapes and sword fight!

Its’ an adaption of the fable written by William Goldman. The movie adds a smart charming flavour to a simple fairy tale. It has witty, funny dialogue. That’s the key to the liking the movie. If you find the dialogues funny and humorous, then you’ll prolly like the movie. The characters were extremely memorable as well.

A true ’80s classic movie!

Most Romantic Moment:“Since the invention of the kiss there have been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind. The End.” The quote of the grandfather alone with the passionate kissing is truly warm and romantic!

23. 50 First Dates

Even though I don’t like 50 First Dates very much, it’s a good watch with your Girlfriend/Boyfriend. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore star in this romantic-comedy which has many funny and witty moments. Drew Barrymore looks gorgeous as ever.

Adam Sandler tries to help Drew Barrymore who has a short-term memory loss and forgets anything the very next day. She goes through the same activity everyday. Adam Sandler tries different techniques to help her but it’s all vain. But in the end, he goes ahead and marries Drew Barrymore; and the obvious they-lived-happily-ever-after!

The end credits come with the song : “Every Breath You Take” by The Police, the song that I like very much and it has features in the 50 First Dates screenplay may be little “unbelievable”, but is a very enjoyable movie, and that what counts.

Most Romantic Moment:At the end, when Drew Barrymore wakes up from her sleep, watches the tape which shows about her wedding. She then see herself with her kid, Adam Sandler and her father in a boat following which is Every breath you take song with the end credits…

22. Antz

Do you think that only humans love? Antz portrays a love between two ants and how far they go to show their affection to their lady love! Antz is an animated movie from the Dreamworks stable.

This is same old boy-meets-girl-fall-in-love-live-happily-ever-after story. A rather neurotic ant tries to break from his totalitarian society while trying to win the affection of the princess he loves. But still it’s enjoyable with your GF/BF.

The cast (voice) may be impressive with the likes of Woody Allen, Sylvester Stallone, Gene Hackman, Jennifer Lopez, Sharon Stone.. but I’m not a fan of “star voices”.

This is a animated movie, which adults can relate to and enjoy more than kids.

21. Sleepless in Seattle

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan act together for the next time after their Joe Versus the Volcano. No one can beat their on screen chemistry. Nora Ephron makes good touching romantic movies. She also directed You’ve Got Mail starring the same actors.

Sam Baldwin’s (Tom Hanks) son Jonah Baldwin (Ross Malinger) makes him talk to a radio talk show as Jonah thinks that his father needs a woman in order to get his life back in order. Hundreds of Women write to him, one of the women is Annie (Meg Ryan)

Meg Ryan is cute as ever. Tom Hanks is a great versatile actor, he plays a father. There is nothing new or notable in this flick, but it’s a warm and touching romantic comedies which is perfect to watch in a lazy day!

Most Romantic Moment:Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan holding hands and walking together on the top of the Empire State building.

20. Pretty Woman

Pretty women is a good romantic movie, with comedy as well; but the comedy is not that much when compared to the other movies of similar genres. But I really liked the movie and I saw without any break. It has a perfect blend of humor and romance.

Edward (Richard Gere) and Vivian (Julia Roberts) are shrewd businessman and a prostitute. They both meet up accidently at Beverly Hills. Edward is moved by the charming personality of Vivian and asks her to stay with him the Penthouse of a Hotel. Later asks her company to his social events. They take a liking to each other and with some minor complications later (feature of so called romantic comedies), they end up.. watch the movie!

Richard Gere and Julia Roberts give a good star studded performance. This movie is Julia’s first movie but if you dint know about this, you will prolly not know that this is her first movie. I think you’ll never imagine Julia playing a prostitute.

Most Romantic Moment:When Edward and Vivian enact the Shakespeare opera scene, with comic references. /em>

19. America’s Sweethearts

America’s Sweethearts was one of the first so called Romantic Comedies that I watched (in HBO) and I really liked it. It’s is good cute romantic flick with comic moments.

After they’ve broken up, a married movie star couple (John Cusack, Catherine Zeta-Jones) still have to go out and promote the movie they made together while they were in love, even though they now hate each other.Here comes the movie director tries to divert attention by concocting the story of the couple’s reunion..when in fact, the actor is actually in love with his wife’s formerly fat assistant (Julia Roberts), and the actress has found a new beau named Hector (Hank Azaria). Billy crystal has co-written the script.

A wonderful and talented cast comprising of Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Billy Crystal, John Cusack star in America’s Sweethearts. Catherine ZJ is my sweetheart, she was lovely in this movie. Billy Crystal and Catherine Zeta-Jones played a good role, even if they dint have big part to play in this flick.

The movie has a lot of brilliant and humourous one liners I loved it and could watch it over and over again! To sum up: Sweet, romantic, heart-warming, and hilarious romantic comedy.

18. Hitch

I like Will Smith and his comic antics (remember Bad Boys, Men in Black, Independence day). I watched this flick with an open mind. After all most of the so called Romantic comedies almost have the same storyline. But I really liked this movie.

Will Smith plays a “Date Doctor” helping his clients in getting their dream date. He meets Eva Mendes. Again the same old romantic movie formula - boy-meets-girl-falls-in-love-complications happens-in-the-end-make-up-marry-live-happily-ever-after.

It’s a cute light hearted love story with comic references. I am a Will Smith fan and liked him. Will Smith is fantastic with his never ending charm. Eva mendes is hot and lovely as usual. Hitch is a movie that makes single people and new couples alike believe in finding love in this cynical world. A Cute date movie for Valentine’s Day!

Most Romantic Moment:The end credits have a wedding and song, which was really good with Will Smith and Eva Mendes dancing and kissing!

17. When Harry Met Sally…

What happens when a boy meets a girl? Can two friends sleep together and still love each other in the morning? Can men and women really be friends? This movie attempts to explore these issues. When Harry Met Sally… touches so much on the difference between men and women: the most enduring conflict in history, and one that is will continue to rage on until humanity is extinct. This is the ultimate battle of the sexes movie!

The storyline is simple.. Can a guy and a girl be friends without sex getting in the way? We see Harry and sally met for the first time and never seem to like each other. But in the end, it’s obvious. A girl and boy can really be friends. There is a lot of comic moments and memorable moments; the infamous orgasm scene, NY cinematography, New year eve party scene, 4 split screen telephonic talk, etc..

The movie great New York cinematography. Maybe the best NY set romantic comedy. Nora Ephron has written the story and screenplay. She has some movies to her credit like You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, etc. The movie can in 1989 and still it’s fresh every time I see it and hasn’t aged till this moment.

The dialogue is funny, well-placed and realistic, it has really good acting ,a great cast (any movie with Meg Ryan has a great cast for me!) it features a supreme sense opinion exploring both sexes, it… It’s just amazing, the perfect romantic comedy. Great movie for both sexiest.

Most Romantic Moment:The climax of the movie, when Harry comes to a new year day eve party to tell Sally he loves her. This was The best New Year’s Eve scene in any movie.
Romantic Quote: “I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. 16. Four Weddings and a Funeral

Four Weddings and a Funeral is a British Romantic comedy. The movie is witty and funny. It has many hilarious and comic moments and I am sure that it will tickle up your funny bone.

The film revolves around Charles and his friends. The title itself will give some idea as to what the plot is. Four of Charles friends get married and his friends (and himself) wonder if at he will get married. his British subtle comedy revolves around Charlie, his friends and the four weddings and one funeral which they attend.

The movie has Kristin Scott Thomas (my fav. actor), Andie MacDowell, Hugh Grant, John Hannah and not to forget Rowan Atkinson. I usually like movies which has many actors starring. Rowan makes a small appearance but gives a impact to this movie. The best was when the priest-in-training (Rowan) messing up the vows.
Kristin Scott Thomas as usuall gives a wonderful performance and looks lovely and cute too. I would have really loved to see Charles get Fiona rather than Carrie. Carrie and Fiona both look lovely, but I thought Carrie on the whole (leave the last dialogue part) did give a fine performance and overshadowed Fiona.

Most Romantic Moment:In the end when Carrie comes wet (it was raining) to Charles’s house, he says his proposal to her at last. The lines are quoted below.
Romantic Quote: “Charles: Let me ask you one thing. Do you think - after we’ve dried off, after we’ve spent lots more time together - you might agree *not* to marry me? And do you think not being married to me might maybe be something you could consider doing for the rest of your life?

15. Notting Hill

Notting Hill is a Sparkling and charming romantic comedy. It’s a British movie. I thought Julia roberts and Hugh Grant share a great on-screen chemistry bringing out emotions, expressions in ease. Both the characters are absolutely adorable.

It’s love at first sight for William Thacker (Grant) when a famous star (Julia) walks in to his little bookstore in Notting Hill, London. Then a series of developments bring William and Anna closer and they love each other but have difficulties in the end. Even if it has the same old predictable and niché ending which all this romantic comedies have, we will love the movie.

The photography and settings show off London beautifully, and the story’s interior scenes make highly imaginative use of a narrow, stacked-up Notting Hill mini-townhouse.The movie has many comic moments and we will have a good laugh, after watching it. Rhys Ifans plays a gay character and I have never seen a “joker” like him in movies. The dialogues between Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts are both romantic and comic. One of the few romantic-comedy I really laughed out while watching!

It’s one of the movies which make you want to see more than once, and you will enjoy it the every time you see it. It lightens the mood after watching the movie.

Most Romantic Moment:When William and Anna are in the park at night (after climbing over the fence), and Anna kisses William while the song “When you say nothing at all” plays in the background.

14. You’ve Got Mail

Another romantic comdy from Nora Ephron. She has already made a movie with Tom and Ryan, Sleepless in Seattle. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have a great on screen chemistry and all their three movie together was a hit. I think they should act more movies together.

Joe Fox and Kathleen Kelly talk, chat over the internet but they don’t know that are business rivals who hate each other. Joe puts Kathleen out of business by opening a chain store close to her little shop. Tom Hanks character comes across as the arrogant person who want to make money but when he is talking to Meg Ryan on the internet, we see another side of him. So he see two different levels, one is the internet chat and the other is hate of business rivals saga.

Meg Ryan is such a beautiful woman, so cute, so adorable and such a good actress for this kind of movie. The way she bounces; the way she walks when she is happy, with her head slightly bobbing back; forth like she is dancing to some wonderful music no one else hears, makes me very happy. He body language is perfect.

It’s got a little bit of romance, social commentary, literary references, great side characters. Hanks and Ryan are of the perfect chemistry. You’ve Got Mail has a more emotional ending , I would liked to see the movie extend, but anyway it was great movie. I just Love this movie! Love these people! Makes me feel so good! It just makes my day and puts me into good and cheerful mood.

Most Romantic Moment:The last scene where Meg Ryan wait for the person who has been mailing her, but she was in love with Tom Hanks, but in the end it turned out that the person who mailed was none other than Tom Hanks.

13. Vanilla Sky

LoveHateDreamsLifeWorkPlayFriendshipSex … goes the tagline of this movie. That’s a lot of things to digest! Note that there is no space between the words, in the movie also the developments criss cross each other. It’s a complex and confusing movie and we might find difficult to understand the developments that take place. I must admit that I dint understand the movie fully. Vanilla Sky needs multiple viewing to understand the plot better.

A successful publisher finds his life taking a turn for the surreal after a car accident with a jaded lover. Thats the plot of the movie. It’s a phycological thriller and a mystery as well. Never mind the plot, most of us understand it unless we watch for 3-4 times.

Tom Cruise looks his best in this movie, not too old (like in War of the Worlds) nor too young (like in Rain man). Penélope Cruz looks absoultley fresh and stunning, thats what I call: “If looks can kill”! I have not seen any other movie of hers, but I am gonna check them out. She looks fresh and lovely. Tom Cruise, Penélope Cruz and Cameron Diaz do a wonderful job. Men love Penélope Cruz and women Tom Cruise!

This movie is an under rated movie for sure. I like Cameron Crowe movie a lot. I liked Elizabethtown also, which is also listed in this post. I really like the way he makes movies. He gives some sort of message. My only complaint is that he makes movies once in 3-4 years. All together a good movie to be watched in a lazy afternoon.

12. The Terminal

The Terminal brings back the good old Spielberg from the ET days. We see again his childlike playfulness. This film made me laugh and it’s funny (Tom Hanks was brilliant just as he was in Big), has romance, a brilliant script and a good direction.

The Terminal is a real life story of a man, Viktor Navorski who finds himself stranded in JFK airport (NY), due to the coup in his country and is not allowed entry in the USA. He makes the Internation Travel lounge as his temporary residence, meets Catherine ZJ and makes friends with the shop keepers there.

This movie does not have the usual Romance flavour. Maybe the writer/director wanted to avoid the boy-gets-girl cliché in the end. Catherine ZJ either continued her character trait of making bad choices, or perhaps made a sacrifice to help him (like his other friends) and the price for the hardship visa was going back to the married man.

The movie has two parallel love stories. One between Viktor and Warren. The other is between Enrique and Torres. Enrique gets Torres. Toorres and Catherine ZJ are both lovely to watch. Caterine ZJ has an aura and charm around around her which cant be explained by words. She is one of my favourite actors. She is back in here lovely girl looks with a new looks.

The whole Napoleon and Josephine references are really good. It was used well in this movie with Catherine ZJ and Tom Hanks. It’s a feel good movie and somekind of inspirational movie. If you liked Big, Cast Away and fan of Catherine ZJ, then you will like this flick as well.

Most Romantic Moment: Tom Hanks and Catheine ZJ have dinner in a gate of the airport, it was a moonlight dinner.

11. Shakespeare in Love

If Gwyneth Paltrow stars in any movie, then I am in it too! She is cute, beautiful and does act well too. She won a Oscar for the best actress for this movie. Don’t get fooled on the name of the movie,it’s supposed to be the Shakespeare adaptation but it’s not, and that’s worked out well and movie was good.

A young Shakespeare, out of ideas and short of cash, meets his ideal woman and is inspired to write one of his most famous plays. So we have two love stories one is the play itself and the other between the lead actors.

Shakespeare in Love is set in the 19th century (maybe even before, I don’t know fir sure) and we get to know more about the people and place at that time. The settings are damn good, in fact it won the Oscar for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration. This is a spectacular drama, it has a remarkable score, brilliant direction, wonderful performances from everyone involved, and an ingeniously written script and has Gwyneth Paltrow!

Most Romantic Moment: When the lead pair enact William Shakespeare and Viola De Lesseps as lovers and the famous giving up life for lady love scene…

10. City of Angels

City of Angels is a simple romance with sentiment movie. City of Angels has Meg Ryan, who I like for her cute face. Men can watch this movie for Meg Ryan and women adore Nicolas Cage!

This is a story where an Angel (Nicolas Cage) falls in love with Meg Ryan. Nicolas Cage gives up his “angelhood” for the cause of love.

City of Angels is a sentiment movie. I really like such movies, and that too which has my favourite actors.

Most Romantic Moment: When Meg Ryan cycles her way back to guest house, she was thinking about Nicolas Cage and wind breezes through her.. everything goes right till she meets with an accident.
Romantic Quote: “I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. One.”

9. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Jim Carrey in a Sci-Fi / Romance movie? How good will the movie be? This is only movie where I have seen Jim Carrey do such serious role. I thought all his career he did stupid cable guy or Ace Ventura roles. I have always liked Kate Winslet after watching Titanic.

A couple (Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet) undergo a procedure to erase each other from their memories when their relationship turns sour, but it is only through the process of loss that they discover what they had to begin with.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a weird,bizarre movie yet enjoyable. The fozen lake, beach scenes are very tender, loving and beautiful. The cast is strong. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet in the lead, Elijah Wood returns from LOTR, Kirsten Dunst and Mark Ruffalo.

The movie has been made with little details taken care of, we will enjoy the movie with repeat viewing. This is one of the best movie that I have seen in 2004. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a masterpiece.

8. Elizabethtown

Cameron Crowe (Director & Writer) makes motion pictures about moments, not momentum. It’s based on relations, friendship and love for other souls. We tend to like the small and subtle reference that Crowe introduces to the movie watchers. It was a film with meaning and depth.

Drew Baylor (Orlando Bloom) is very depressed as he is a failure in his job and wants to end his life, when he comes to know of his fathers death. He flies to Kentucky to arrange a funeral, where he meets Claire Colburn (Kirsten Dunst) in flight. Now they meet again and a unexpected romance blooms between them. It’s emotional rollercoaster he was riding as he experienced the failure on the job, planning suicide, and then finding out his father was dead, finding Claire and discovering life.. we are also made to sit in the roller coaster. A great film about relationships, about life and death, about what we do with our lives while we are here.

Guys will like Claire who is sooooo cute and gals will adore Drew who has a chocolate-boy image. Claire makes a dairy sort of thing for Drew to keep company in his roadtrip. I know she would have worked hard to make it , it has CDs, pictures and instruction to Drew during his drive. It’s so beautiful and I really liked that I wished my wife also makes something like that for me.

The Kentucky county, Elizabethtown, Louisville, whole smalltown reference, with the roadtrip sequence (with the wonderful soundtrack of course where we enjoy roadside attractions and landmarks) is wonderful and makes us watch the movie again.

Watch with your GF/BF, you will certainly enjoy the movie for sure.; even if you personally don’t like the movie (highly unlikely!).Purchase this movie DVD, it’s worth more viewings. Elizabethtown is a movie which is to be enjoyed in a Autumn lazy Sunday afternoon.

7. Love Actually

Love Actually is my favourite Romantic Comedy movie. It’s a British movie shot in London. It was a refreshing change for me after watching so many “Hollywood” movies.I would have already mentioned about Love Actually in the top Chiristmas movies also.

It’s about the lives of 8 couples five weeks before Christmas and the sequence of events that unfolds with happiness, gloom, success, sacrifice etc.. The movie showcases people who do all it takes to have relationship with the people they love.

It’s a entertaining movie with funny moments. There is fact eight short stories within the movie which dont get mixed with others or atleast not that much. The cast is huge and wonderful. Many of my favourite are casted: Liam Neeson (and Thomas Sangster as his son), Keira Knightley (damn cute), Hugh Grant (as Prime Minister), Billy Bob Thornton(small role but make a good impact), Rowan Atkinson (funny as ever), Alan Rickman (Severus Snape in Potter movies), and many others..

Love Actually is a rare movie where we have a great screenplay to back great acting performances. Love Actually is not a love story, it is a story about love. How love unites people who come from different walks of life… I am sure that Love Actually lighten your mood and feel good after watching the movie!

6. A Walk to Remember

A Walk to Remember (AWTR) is a “teen” movie. But dont get me wrong, it’s not the usual type of teen movie and it’s not R Rated! Yes it’s a romance movie but you will fell warm and brimimg with positive emotions after you have watched this movie.

The story of two North Carolina teens, Landon Carter (West) and Jamie Sullivan (Moore), who are thrown together after Landon gets into trouble and is made to do community service. Jamie is not the usual girl; she is conservative, god fearing, doesn’t care for what others think about her, cute (even without any makeup). Landon was the usual guy who likes chicks, want to enjoy life, have fun untill he meets Jamie and his life changes forever.

A story of who two polar opposite teenagers get together and do anything for their love. AWTR showcases how true love needs to be, Landon is a perfect guy and Jamie is a perfect girl.

AWTR is not the type of movie, who look for “fun and frolic” type of romance movie like 50 First Dates. It got a sad but positive ending. I couldn’t resist weeping while I watched this movie. I found myself wishing I were either Landon or Jamie, because they represent the real virtues of life and love. I wish I get a girl like Jamie.

Most Romantic Moment:Shane West and Mandy Moore get out of the town and have a drive down the highway, where they talk, name stars(!), and kiss and express love for each other.
Romantic Quote: “Landon: I might kiss you.

5. The English Patient

Ralph Fiennes and Kristin Scott Thomas are one of my favourite actors, Kristin has one of the cutest face that I like. This made me like the movie even more. Now I have a liking for Juliette Binoche after watching her Oscar winning performance!

At the close of WWII, a young nurse tends to a badly-burned plane crash victim. His past is shown in flashbacks, revealing an involvement in a fateful love affair. There are two love stories, one is Ralph Fiennes-Kristin Scott Thomas and the other Juliette Binoche-Naveen Andrews. One fails and one suceeds.

The way Ralph Fiennes asked for the car from the British soldiers to save his lover’s life, walking 3 days on foot in the hot desert and finally keeping up his promise to Kristen was really touching and moving.

The English Patient is not the usual kind of romance movie, it’s sad and you cry as well. It has a beautiful desert backdrop. The movie was not about kissing and romance scenes by the lead actors, it was more that.. taking Ralph Fiennes out in the rain, Naveen Andrews-Juliette Binoche exploring the church painting…
This movie explore themes of love.

Most Romantic Moment: When Juliette Binoche reads out the letter to Ralph Fiennes that Kristin Scott Thomas had written to him. Juliette Binoche admisters the morphine overdose to Ralph Fiennes, and he listen to the letter. The exact quotes is the one below..

4. Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è Bella)

“An unforgettable fable that proves love, family and imagination conquer all.” goes the tagline of the movie and rightly so! There is so much in the movie; comedy, romance, Drama, war; it’s a treat for the whole family. Life is beautiful is not the usual War movie we might have seen.

Life Is Beautiful is a fable tale of a father who does all he can to win the heart of a girl he loves and later he saves his son from the Germans when they are held in the German Ghetto’s.

Even when the father (Guido) and son (Joshua) were forced and taken away to a Ghetto, mother Dora also follows them there and she was asked to come to Ghetto. Guido plays music, talks in microphone with her wife, when he is not able to meet her in the German Ghetto. Wow.. perfect couple.

Life Is Beautiful is one of the best foreign films I have seen. I Have never seen a movie which is based on the World War 2 backdrop and is a comedy. Even thought the ending is sad, the film shows in lighter spirit. Never matter the language , this movie was really good and I might watch this over and over again, of it was not dubbed in English.

The kid, Joshua as he was named is cute little boy and his role was perfect and did a reasonably good job as well. His mother Dora or princess (Nicoletta Braschi) as his husband Guido Orefice (Roberto Benigni) calls is also cute. Both the Kid and her mother is adorable and loving. Perfect movie to watch with your Girlfriend/Boyfriend! I can go on forever describing the creativity of this movie, but I will not be able to capture all its beauty in writing. This is one of those movies that have a lasting effect on you.

3. It’s a Wonderful Life

It’s a Wonderful Life is a movie for any season and occasion. It’s a “Christmas” movie (I have already mentioned about it in the top Christmas movies), Drama, Family and Romance of course. This is the kind of movie that I would like to watch with my Girl friend or my wife, the way Donna Reed helps James Stewart in times of need is really touching and heart warming.

It’s about the sequence of events that unfold before the Christmas eve for a man who is frustrated and wonders why he is alive and even attempts suicide. An angel helps him to overcome the stress by showing what life would had been like if he never existed and emphasising the fact that life is to live and in a beautiful way.

It’s a wonderful life is the ultimate feel good movie. The whole sequence of events till the end may be be disturbing, but in the end I did shed “Happy” tears. I was “weeping” for the last 5 minutes of movie

Most Romantic Moment:When George Bailey is helped by his wife Mary in the end. Depicts true love that she had for him.

2. The Notebook

At first thought and seeing the title of the movie, I never thought I would like The Notebook very much. It’s one of the best Romance movie to watch.

There are many romantic moments in the movie, one needs to watch to enjoy. The dialogues and quotes are really heartwarming. Both Noah and Allie are cute and make a wonderful pair.

The movie opens with an old man reading a tale from his notebook to an old women in a nursing home… It’s the usual triangle love story. Two guy for one girl. The Notebook stands tall among the ruins of the usual triangle romance movie that we are subjected to.

The Notebook is a sweet and emotional love story. I must admit that I did cry at the ending. Don’t miss this movie. It’s a must watch, buy the DVD and enjoy the movie with your GF/BF/spouse. It’s heart warming and leave a lump in your throat.

Most Romantic Moment:Noah and Allie meet each other after one year, they go around the lake in a boat.. see swans, it rains at that point of time.. it was this moment when Noah tells Allie “it wasn’t over,” (their love) then pulls her to him and says “It’s still not over,” and they kiss.
Romantic Quote: “The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that’s what you’ve given me. That’s what I hope to give to you forever. I love you. I’ll be seeing you.”

1. Titanic

Top movie in the history of US with Box Office collections running over 6mn$, “My heart will go on” song performed by Celine Dion topped the radio charts, most grossing movie in the opening weekend, 11 Oscars - no film has ever surpassed that, the records that Titanic set, speak for itself.

Many people have divided opinions on this movie, some say it’s the best movie, some say it’s the worst movie. But what we can dispute is that this is really good movie to watch with your Girlfriend/Boyfriend/spouse. It’s a sort of movie where we enjoy more with a company of another soul whom you love. Titanic is the Ultimate romance movie of all times. It’s my best movie of all times and still continues to rule after me watching many other good movies, but nothing comes close to Titanic.

It’s the usual Rich girl-meet-poor boy-fall-in-love movie shown with a difference and extravaganza. We all know the fate of the ill lucked ship Titanic. This movie attempts to showcase a Fictional romantic tale of two lovers on board and how far they go to express love.

It has the famous song which was a chartbuster for many weeks. My heart will go on is a wonderful piece of music and one of my favourite romantic numbers. I have listed it in also. James Cameron had no choice but to fit it in the end credits. James Horner does a good job with the recordings and the background score, which really is emotional and sets the pace.

Titanic does a super job of recreating the historical details accurately and then weaving them seamlessly around the fictional romance. There are many powerful scenes, but my favourite is when the Irish mother makes her kids sleep and say:” They lived happily ever after..”, I break down at this moment whenever I watch the movie. My favourite romantic moment follows after the romantic quote. Titanic is a masterpiece, near flawless movie and historically accurate as well.

Titanic has top notch acting by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet (I liked both the actors after watching the movie), good direction by James Cameron (one of my best directors), sets are lavish and extravagant, good background score, crisp screenplay.. all the essential ingredient to make it a success and it was a blockbuster. You can’t ask for a better excuse to buy the DVD.

Most Romantic Moment:The famous railing scene where Rose and Jack hold to each with their arms stretched out, singing “Come, Josephine, my flying machine” and they kiss.
Romantic Quote: “Winning that ticket, Rose, was the best thing that ever happened to me… it brought me to you. And I’m thankful for that, Rose. I’m thankful. You must do me this honor, Rose. Promise me you’ll survive. That you won’t give up, no matter what happens, no matter how hopeless. Promise me now, Rose, and never let go of that promise.”

Many would have noticed that I might have left out some movies in this list. I just want to say that I have seen Gone With The Wind, Casablanca, The Princess Bride and Serendipity but dint quite like them. Again no list is complete and definitive, we need to watch more movie to make it a really big compilations.

I have rated the movies (on a scale of 10), but I have arranged them in the order in which I would like to see them with my GF/BF. That will explain why movies that I had rated 8.5 come after movies with 9/10!

I must admit that I got emotional while writing his post, it made me want to watch the movie all over again. Whether or not I have a girlfriend is another question for me. I always want to catch up with Titanic or The Notebook or It’s a Wonderful Life. Valentine’s day is never complete for me without me watching these movies. These 3 are must watch romance movie.
